Recall on cruise controls

I caught the tail end of a news story today on a recall of Fords with
cruise control.  I'm sure it is related to the small recall we've
discussed here but I think they were saying that it is the second
largest recall in Ford history.

Apparently they are to mail out notices to the owners with the recall
and places to have the cruise control fixed.  Anyone have a link to the
actual recall?

Is this the one they did over a year ago?

Maybe check here, or on the Ford owners site.  If your vehicle was
involved, you should have gotten a letter, mine was repaired in March.

This is a new recall involving something like 17 million vehicles.  It
was on the news today and I have a feeling that it could be a similar
recall that has been expanded to cover more vehicles.  I'll try to pay
attention if it is on the news again tonight.  Not much on aside from
Katrina and N.O. these days.  A safety recall on trucks almost seems
like an upbeat story in comparison.

I got this link from another NG. It explains the recall and the affected
vehicles pretty well.

I went to the link below from the site that Fernando posted.  It asks
for your VIN number and lists all recalls for your vehicle.  It showed
that my truck was indeed on the recall list for the CC switch.

There is a video if you go through the site I posted earlier.

Video worked for me -

My gripe is that in that video, it show the guy fixing it.  IT LITERALLY
TAKES 15 SECONDS!!  Hell, even a union couldn't milk if for more than 2
minutes without feeling guilty.  Unplug a connector, put supplied adapter
into connector and reconnect.  Why can't they just provide the freakin'
adapter?  (I know, I know)  But still - to make a appointment and drop off
the truck for a day for that is ludicrous!  I particularly loved the part
where he said "due to the high number of vehicles, you may find that they
may be in short supply of the adapter, so the service tech will disconnect
the cruise and you will nee to make an additional appointment when supplies
are available to reconnect...."  (or something to that effect)   Loose the
truck for two days, none the less farting around with rides to work to do
what I saw him do?  erg...

They probably shouldn't have put that part in the video for me to see....

My 2001 F-150 is on the recall, but my 2002 Ranger isn't. Wonder why... when
they have the same part? Think they'll add the Rangers when they have enough
parts? lol
