Anyone have a perspective on the 100,000-mile warranty Ford offered on the
7.3 liter Diesel (1999 version)? I have an F-250SD with 99,870 miles on it,
and the local dealership just charged me a lot of $$ to replace a water
pump. When I asked about the warranty, the, um, service advisor told me that
it only covers the engine (though it reads 'Drive Train')...is a water pump
considered part of the drive train? He didn't feel that the factory warranty
covers the transmission either (though that's not an issue), so I'm kinda
suspicious. Dealership just changed hands and a lot of personnel...

Any input appreciated -

What is your idea of a lot of $$ to get this done? But whatever the case, if
this vehicle is under warranty from FORD, then call Ford customer service
(warranty) line. They will fix you up, last thing they want to do right now
is piss off customers and lose their return business. The people on that
line are warranty specialists, and they will either refund your money or
call the dealer and have the dealer refund your money. I also liked the
other guys idea of sending CERTIFIED letters to both ford and the dealer.
But regardless, anytime you have a problem with a dealer (I dont care who
made the car) then that dealer has to uphold itself to the vehicle
manufacturers whose name they put on their sign. All dealerships are
basically a franchise of the auto manufacturer. They have their guidelines
to follow just like all the fast food restaurants.
