If I have a bad alternator...recently discovered, about how long will it last?
And how will I know FOR SURE if it is the alternator?  Its a 2000 Ford F-150
(original battery), reg cab, LWB.

If you have a bad alternator, it will last until a month ago.
If you have a meter, you can know immediately whether it's bad. If not,
go somewhere and have it checked and repaired accordingly. Maybe you
could replace the battery yourself. A new battery may solve your
problem, whatever it is that you are not telling us.
