tailgate jammed

greetings, was using our 91 f150 to haul some wood to get it recycled.
think the tailgate was bent pushing off some of the bigger pieces.
went to slam the tailgate stuck and one side latched and the otherside
didn't :-(.  needless to say the tailgate is jammed shut now.  can't
close the unlatched side and can't unlatch the latched side.  any
thoughts?  is there a way to unlatch using a screwdriver (hard to see
the mechanism).  can the tailgate be disassembled while closed?

There should be a small panel on the inside of the tailgate in the
center.  Pull it off and you'll see what you need to do.

Happens to me a lot - I just have to slug it on the latched side while I'm
trying to unlatch it and that solves the problem.
