2004 F150 Throttle Issue

My 2004 F150 has had this same problem since day 1.  I purchased it in
January of 2004.

I am now approaching 31000 miles and still trying to get Ford to fix
the issue or at least aknowledge that there is one.  My truck is
currently at the dealer (2nd time for this problem).  The first time
they said that there was no problem.

Has many other 2004 F150 Crew Cab (no 4X4) owners experienced this?
Here is the problem:

When attempting to accelerate (for passing, etc.) the truck has a
momentary delay before responding to the pedal - maybe a 1/2 second or
1 second.  I read in the previous thread regarding this that
"re-flashing" the ROM would possibly fix the problem.  But when I
mentioned that to the dealer today they became very defensive and said
the technician wouldn't do it unless FORD authorized them to because of
a known problem.

Is this a well documented problem?  How many others have experienced
this with their F150's?

Thanks for the information...

Regards,

Steve

Honestly, it sounds like nothing more than the delay while downshifting.  Is
it missing or anything?

Yes, a reflash will fix or help with the throttle delay. Had mine done a
long time ago. Mine was one of th very early builds, Aug of 03. If they
won't do the reflash without talking to Ford, either make them contact
Ford while you are there or try a different dealer.
Is it documented, yes, I believe there are TSB's out for it, although I
don't have any numbers.

Yup, I found the official FORD TSB for the problem and printed it out.
I'll be picking up my F150 on Monday.  They better not try and tell me
that there's nothing wrong.  I'll be bringing that TSB with me...  I'll
let you know how it all turns out.

Thanks for the information Marlin
