Should I expect to pay for a remanufactored transmission? I have a 95
Ford aerostar with a 3.0 engine and 3 speed with overdrive tranny. I
priced them at autozone .com only to find to my dismay they are very
expensive ! 1400 to 1800 dollors seems a bit much for any transmission
. you do have a core Charge of around 650 to 750 dollors but still
seems pricy.. and no I don' want to go used as These particular trannys
are sort of on the weak side.  so would rather have a good rebuilt unit.
any other options ?

Try www.phoenixhardparts.com I have had good dealings with them and good
prices.

Don't. Find an independent transmission shop that lives and dies by its
reputation (not a chain).  Pay them instead.

Hate to bust his bubble, but the core price is in addition to the parts
price..
Finding an inde any more is getting hard.  Also did you check ford?  They
sell remanufactured transmissions and engines, and give a better warranty
than most tranny shops.

Thanks for your suggestions .. I am going boneyard.. They do have a 30
day warrenty not alot , but There is no way I am paying for one part
that costs more then the entire vehicle!!!  you take your chances buying
used , but sometimes thats the only option.
