Ranger engine cuts out when hot

'99 Ranger 4.0L - After driving for a while (warm engine) the motor will
start cutting out (just for half second, enough to lurch a bit) somewhat
randomly. Someone suggested the plug wires were bad but I replaced them
about 5 years ago. Is it most likely the plug wires or what else is likely
to cause that problem.
