IN 7/98. HAVE TRIED TO RDPLACE THE STALK THAT CONTROLS THE WIPERS,
TURN SIG AND HEADLITE HI OR LO.
IS THERE A RELAY OR FUSE THAT WOULD CONTROL THIS? WHERE IS IT.?  COULD
IT BE A BULB? [BOTH HEADLITES WILL NOT WORK]

Richard,
We need to know what kind of truck. FYI you should not post in CAPS, it
makes it hard to read and also means you're SCREAMING!

It's a Ford, built in July of '98. Didn't you hear him say that, I heard him
from clear over here. <sorry , I couldn't help myself ...>

One, stop YELLING. It hurts my eyes to read this stuff.

Two, I'm confused. Do the lights (not lites) turn off if the High Beams are
off, or do the lights remain on in High Beam Mode even when the Low Beams
are selected.

If you select the Low Beams and the lights go off, then the head lamps are
probably burnt out. It is rare that both would go out at the same time, but
lots of people will drive for weeks on a burn out lamp, and not notice until
the other one burns out.

You can remove the head lamp bulbs from inside the eingine bay. They will
have a clippy thing or take a quarter turn to release. The bulb has a number
on it, like 9004, 9007, 9056, etc. Whatever the number is, go to the store
and get two more just like it. WalMart has them, as do all autoparts stores.
There are several varieties of bulbs with the same number, get which ever
variety that cranks your chain. I like the Silver Star bulbs the best. They
are pricey, but I really like the light spectrum they deliver. Resist the
temptation to buy blue lights because I don't like them. If you match the
number on your bulbs to the number on the new bulbs, you can't go physically
wrong -- even if the spectrum or color sucks. The number defines the way the
lamps fit ...

When installing the new bulbs DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS with your fingers. The
oil on your skin will destroy the glass in a matter of a few minutes, hours
if you are lucky -- these bulbs should last years, so "lucky" is optomistic.
If you happen to touch the glass, then you must wash it with alcohol and a
cotton pad, or at least a tissue soaked in alcohol.

It's "engine" not "eingine." <sorry...couldn't help myself :)>
