I'm trying to research trailer hitches for my '93 F-150, 300, E4OD.
this looks like a good product:

any downsides? Any other products I should look at? I'm basically
looking for very occasional towing capability, but when I do tow, I'll
probably be moving project cars/large loads of car parts/etc.
thanks

Draw-Tite is an excellent product.
You need to make sure the towing capacity you add to your truck does not
exceed the capacity of the truck itself. What I mean is, there is no point
in adding 7500 pounds of towing capcity in the hitch if the truck can only
pull 3500 pounds. You need to add a hitch that is the next size over the
capacity of the truck. If the truck can handle 3500 pounds, then you need a
5000 pound hitch, not a 3000 pound hitch.

DrawTite makes an excellent product. Check out Reese and my favorite B&W at
the following: http://www.turnoverball.com/index.asp

something to keep in mind, Drawtite, Reese, HiddenHitch, and 5th
airborne are all the same company
today, IE they are all part of Cequent Towing. Not to detract at all,
as they are all good brands.

Any opinion on Curt hitches? JCW is offering them for $120 including
the ball mount. Tempted to buy it but it's not 100% clear if it
interferes with the spare tire.

thanks for the comments guys, I have not ordered anything yet as Step
One which was to straighten out the rear step bumper (truck was mildly
rear-ended before I bought it, pass. side of bumper was hanging low
and I wanted to fix it so it wouldn't interfere with a hitch) has
turned into a complete show. I purchased a new passenger side inner
bracket (for "only" $80, I'm surprised these aren't available
aftermarket) from the dealership and what a mess. Apparently Ford
uses 14mm bolts to mount the bumper to the brackets, without any
proper corrosion protection, so I had to haul the bumper down to the
local garage to have the guy torch the bolts off for me. Now I'm
waiting on my package from McMaster-Carr as nobody stocks 14mm bolts
around here (including the dealer, who informed me that they were
"rediculously expensive" if I bought the correct factory bolts) so I
can put it back together.
I seem to be on a streak of having little, easy projects turning into
big, complicated ones.
On the upside, I did get the radiator serviced for my '55 Stude and
the guy rodded and resoldered it and called it good. I was really
glad he didn't say I needed a new core, because I have no idea where
i'd get one...
