A couple of days ago the column shifter started to get a little sloppy.
I mean you had to kind of search for what ever gear you want to be in.
Today the ignition switch will not unlock. I'm afraid that something has
come loose in the column linkage and the truck doesn't know it's in
park. Have to get it towed because can't unlock the steering, gear shift
or ignition. Any ideas or revelations for me?
Thank you

Try moving the steering wheel with some force in one direction then try the key.
The lock maybe just resting to tight on the latch.

Finally got it towed to Ford garage. They replaced the ignition lock.
When I started to drive, I realized that the shifter was still sloppy.
Went in and talked to the service manager and he said there was nothing
on the work order about loose shifter. I told him that I clearly stated
that this was a problem. He said that this was common in these trucks
and that likely a couple of bolts had come loose(??) but I would have to
make another appt to have it looked at. He also said that this looseness
would not cause any damage and that since I use this truck in my
business, to pull a 1 ton trailer, that it would be ok to drive it like
this. I have to feel for D, R,and N. Also, the key dinger rings even
with the key removed when the door is open.
