I think the bearing is going.  It is squeaking but when I oil it, the
squeaking stops.  Should I replace it?  Any problem changing these
things out?

I had no trouble replacing this part on my '94 Bronco with the 5.8L motor.
Your Ranger, obviously, has a different motor, but I'd not hesitate to jump
into this project if I were you ...

My Bronco had an idler and a tensioner. The idler was on a solid mount, the
tensioner was on a spring loaded mount. Easy job, I did it in the parking
lot at AutoZone.

No don't replace it.  Keep an oil can handy and a flashlight.  When it
starts squeaking in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night during
a storm, a touch of oil should save you???????

Of course change it, no not that hard!
