How does the current get to the starter? Follow the positive battery cable, where does it end? Starter relay, ok, large cable from the starter relay goes to the starter... Ok, see the current path? What does a starter relay do? Contacts close via voltage from the ignition in start position to send current to the starter. Here's the $64k question: Why would the starter relay send current to the starter if you weren't trying to start the car?
