That you would get a better deal when you buy one car or five people
get together and buy five cars from the same dealer?

The dealer is there to make $$$$.  They will tell you they will make a
super deal and laugh all the way to the bank for the five suckers they
just got.

What incentive can you offer them to do that?

If they have to treat these as individual purchase contracts, then they
will not give you any better deal..

I suggest, if you want to do that, check out Sam's Club buyer programs

I've heard it was a good deal on a couple of radio talk shows.

Just shop at whatever dealers independently and get your best deal. Then go
to the one dealer, and say, "we're going to buy  five cars, and these are
the best deals we have. What can you do to make it so we want to buy all
five cars here, together?"

Personally, I could see them dropping $100 or $200 off the price of each
car, but I don't see that it would be like a fleet sale.

A deal of five cars is about $100K ((assuming $20K/car). Take this deal
to four or five dealers and you have created competition. No dealer is
going to pass it by without making a good faith bid. When dealers
compete you win. Collective bargaining never fails!

If you take the deal to four or five dealers each of them will try and
outbid the other. You are creating competition. Collective bargaining
has always produced results.
