My check engine light is on due to the gas cap being left off.  Do I
have to do some type of reset?  How?

Usually that one will reset itself after a few trips.  How long has it
been on?

My 2002 Ranger has a light for the gas cap.....
To be sure, just turn the key to on and see if you have a gas cap
light, or check the owner's manual.

you may have another code stored that's not related to the gas cap.

the light should have gone off when the cap was tightened.
