My 94 Town Car has recently developed an intermintent transmission problem.
It will shift in and out of overdrive for no reason. I can feel it shifting
in and out of that gear as I drive and speed has not affect.  If I shut the
overdrive off everything seems to be alright.

I'd like some idea of the probable cause before I trust it to someone who is
looking for my money.

Any help?

Thanks, Ed

Could be the MLPS. Electronic switch on side of tranny.

Pics etc are about half-way down the screen.

Symptoms were a bit different on my '94 Tbird LX V8. As if I had shifted
from 3rd or 4th to neutral. I set the shifter to neutral, then to D and
it would get back to normal.

Maybe $300 for a dealer fix. Details if you wanna repair yourself.
