1990 lincoln continental cv axel problem

i installed left side 1st then right side cv acels. Test drove and seemed
normal till i stopped at 1st stop sign.car revs as if in neutral,mabey
something loose in tranny-any suggestions?

Did you put the new axles into the transmission ALL the way?
If they didn't go in far enough for the snap ring to do its thing, then
they can "walk" themselves right back out again as you drive.

Did you lose a lot of fluid when you pulled the old ones? Did you
top up any missing fluid before you went driving?
