I guess you have the v6 - I was wondering how the 4 has enough power -
it's rated better gas mileage.
Yes, don't read magazines. They know jacksh!t about what they speak. I
could write for hours on this but who would believe me. If anyone can find
it, please post an old classic from the Washington Post called "The myth of
the foreign car". In fact, I hear that non-domestic dealerships are adding
service bays just for oil changes and employing lots of mechanics for the
tax breaks they get. I mean, they never break. It's a machine after all,
and all machines break, except for foreign ones that is.
I have a Lincoln Zephyr, same car as the Fusion. I laugh at anyone who paid
more for their euro or jap car and get a whole lot less. It's been a great
car to 80,000km and still not a squeak or rattle (I'm sure someone else will
tell me their's rattles like a spray paint can) or one repair.
But, drive it and be your own judge. Personally, I find Japanese cars to be
the most boring things on the planet and Euro to be way over-rated, and
over-priced. Land Rover, Jag, Mercedes, etc., they all make some real crap.
Mitsubishi faced a class action suit for hiding all their known defects.
The list of service bulletins for Honda or Toyota would fill pages.
You're a sheep if you buy a car based on a magazine.
Brad
PS: For the record, yes, I know my Zephyr's transmission is built by a
Toyota owned company. Did you know that?
It all depends on where you live and how you use your vehicle. If you live
in a hilly or mountainous part of the county and if you drive mostly at
speeds over 40 MPH. The V6, with its greater torque and six speed, double
overdrive automatic, will do better on average than the 4cy with less torque
and five speed, single overdrive automatic. If you prefer a 5 speed manual
tranny, then the 4cy is your only option

Thanks A 6 with a stick would be great but it would suck in
traffic. I gotta test drive them and find out.
