Car has almost 80,000 miles on it, runs great, but it looks like the
shaft seals on the power steering pump might be leaking.  The back of
the pulley is wet and so is the bottom of the pump.  Can this pump be
rebuilt easily and can I get the pulley off with a simple two jaw
puller?  How about getting the pulley back on?  I think Ford sells
reseal kits for this pump but just wanted to know what my options are
before I buy a reman'd pump that makes a lot of noise.  Also need to
change the serpentine belt when I do this.

Thanks for any info!

get your pump seal and special puller at the parts house . you just
cant get that pully off with a 2 jaw puller . the pully installer is
just a threaded rod ,nut and washer.dont push on the shaft to get the
pully back on.if the pump shaft is loose, get a rebuilt pump.lucas

Just be sure its the pump. On some of my older tauri, the return hose
hardened where it went into the pump and leaked. On the gen 2, its a
short 6/9" hose connected/crimped to the metal line. I cut off the
crimps and put in a short length of PS rated hose to fix the leak.

Aha!  I think I will replace the resevior to pump supply line first
when I change the serpentine belt.  I think the hose may be dryed out
and what I have probably seaped out from where the clamp is.  I'll
wiggle the pulley too when the belt is off and check for play, then
degrease the pump and watch for a few weeks.  I was about to spend big
bucks on a pump and puller/installer tools.  I like tools.

Thanks!
