I'd like recommendations for a good but inexpensive online parts supplier
for my 93 Taurus. I've used Parts Train in the past. They are reliable and
reasonably priced, even though they do add a rather hefty handling fee on
top of the shipping.
My complaints about Parts Train is that they like to send "special
offer" spam that I didn't ask for. Much worse, during the last purchase
I made on their web site, instead of the final confirmation page, they
intentionally misdirected my browser to a "you're a winner!" page.
The so called prize was a trivial discount at some merchant or restaurant,
I was so angry that I don't recall who it was for. The reason for my anger
was that claiming my so called prize would have signed me up for some
ridiculous pay service.
I don't think this kind of marketing (scam, really) has any place in a
online purchase when you're handing over credit card numbers and other
theft worthy information.
My cars are just cheap transportation to me (sincere apologies to the
enthusiasts in this group!) so paying full price for top quality parts at
the Ford dealer is not suggestion I'm looking for.
I just want a reliable supplier at a good price that won't won't insult me
with spam and phony contests.

I use rockauto.com for a lot of parts that I can't get locally, or if the
local prices are too high. Their shipping charges are pretty decent, and the
only email I get from them is an occasional parts ad in the form of a
newsletter, and about every 2 or 3 months a 5% discount code.
I'm sure there may be less expensive on line shops, but I've never had a
problem with rockauto orders, or with a couple of returns I needed to make
(my fault, not theirs). I highly recommend them.

I second the rockauto.com recommendation. I've used them a lot and
they have very good prices and the generally have a lot better
detailed info on the parts them most places. The sent me the wrong
blower motor once and when I called they credited me the full price
back with no hassle and said keep the motor.

Thanks for that, to both you and SC Tom. I've try them out next time I
need parts.
