I'm planning to buy a 2009 Edge and am really confused about this new
employee pricing plan. I'll be paying cash for the car, so financing
doesn't enter the picture. Before the employee pricing was announced,
I could go to any number of Web sites, determine the invoice price,
look up the cash-back rebate, and calculate what I was willing to pay
for the car.
All that logic seems to go out the window with Employee Pricing Plus.
Ford.com indicates that employee pricing savings are $2591 for a 2009
Edge. Does that include the $500 Ford Credit Bonus Cash, which I won't
be eligible for? Ford.com also indicates that "destination and
delivery fee is included." Does that mean my dealer shouldn't try to
tack on the $775 destination fee?
I've looked at a sample of cars offered by area dealers on their Web
sites. Their price reductions run from $950 to $1995--a far cry from
the $2591 shown on Ford.com. Can someone give me the straight story on
this plan? I'm primarily interested in determining the dealer's "true"
cost so that I can bargain from there. Thanks in advance for your
help.

The answer is employee pricing is 7% below dealer invoice. Net invoice
includes shipping. There is no problem determining the employee price, it
is listed on the invoice as the "X" Plan price. The "Plus" is whatever
rebate is offered on a particular vehicle, in your region
