Instead of the Detroit three continuing to cut each other's throat, how
about this revolutionary plan for cooperative synergy? Let each company do
what it does best so all will thrive:
Ford manufactures all power trains and drive lines.
GM manufactures all chassis, bodies and accessories.
Chrysler does all assembly work.
Cars and trucks will be the same but differ only in paintwork and badging.
Badging in Ford and GM is necessary because Ford dealerships will carry the
Ford line and GM the GM line. It is clear midwesteners will always favor
Ford and coast-dwellers GM, rednecks Ford and Jews GM and etc.
This plan of cooperation eliminates cutthroat canibilism of the American
made auto trade and makes room for the three companies to deliver an
acceptable reorganization plan to President Obama's Car Czar.

It is much better if all three stop making cars and just recieves
money from the taxpayer so all can live happily eve4r after and
management can continue to throw big parties, fly around in jets and
get fat bonuses.

Good idea. I think they ought to pilot the concept in Canada.

here's a better ides. Why don't americans act like they are americans and
support their country by buying american made products. I have to laugh
every time they send us a stimulus check and millions of people go buy a
chinese made electronic gizmo.

When the Detroit 2.2 quality is of a consistently good level as the
non-Detroit car makers (made in America too) then they might. The
Detroit 2.2 have their quality moments but not consistently so. Until
then I will buy Honda or Toyota made in America products.
Mike Hunter - 29 Dec 2008 20:55 GMT
Don't you mean "I will buy Toyotas made in America, of mostly world sourced
parts?" At least that is what Toyota now says in their TV ads, not made in
America. In addition most of the materials they use are imported as well.
The truth is well over 55% of what Toyota sells in the US is IMPORTED and
over 80% of what GM and Ford sell in the US is made in the US. Search the
US Commerce Department site for the truth about what is made in the US,
WBMA.

The new years resolution is to get rid of all foreign made anything.
Throw out all foreigners.
Close the borders.
No imports allowed.
All companies should be owned solely by US citicens.
The first order of the day is to make sure no halfbreeds allowed to
hold office, no foreign blood in the people in office.
Set up committies to find out who has any foreign relatives, made any
trips abroad last few years etc.
Only transport available will be government made GM cars.
Specialist brought in from Cuba to show how to maintain really old
cars in masses.

==================================================
Over 1000 results when searching "Gosi" in the GM newsgroup. All full of
horseshit. Oh, and one result for "The General Organization for Social
Insurance" for the state of Saudi Arabia. There's a surprise...No wonder
you and Jimmy Boy are such close friends.

Your stimulus could be a kick in the a.s. Americans are way tired of this
sh.t.
We WILL buy American made products if you dont keep putting out the junk
that we have been exposed to for years.
You can starve in the cold for all I care.

Consumers had irrational allegiance to one of the 3 American car makers in
the past. One time or another, all of the 3 made big goofs. Yet, the
allegiance still stuck. So did the name calling that was no longer valid.
In the same analogy, many of those consumers went to foreign car allegiance.
Their observations at the time of those cars and the Big 3 were accurate.
Those differences have changed, but the allegiance remains.
Another point is the current cost of fuel does affect what the consumer
chooses. Not what the cost was even a few months ago. Not what its
anticipated to be, even in the near future. Case in point. Toyota slacked
in sales last quarter for all its vehicles. The least lost sales percentage
was in its SUV. Biggest loser was the Prius. The point being is the
consumer makes the choices, the car manufacturer reacts to that on the next
year or 2 for what they make. Hope Toyota doesn't fall for the consumer
bait and switch thing as the Big 3 did
