Auto execs reported, with no hats, as ordered

George Orwell - 19 May 2009 23:39 GMT
As ordered by our fair and square elected President, all the auto
executives lined up behind him for receiving his auto specs for the 2016
models. Notably, neither the press nor the execs (in name only) wore
Stetsons. It was a hot sunny day. In the days of old, no self-respecting
businessman or reporter would be caught dead without his lid. What is going=

on here? Is there a White House directive to not cover thy noggin in the
presence of the F=FChrer? Mr. Obama may be highly resistant to UV rays, but=

all those honkys are definitly NOT.

Fox Business and CNBC hate our chocolate dictator with a passion, but he is=

doing something smart from an engineering standpoint, albeit jamming it up
the collective execs' a.ses: getting the lead out of cars. From day one,
automobiles have been built like lumber wagons, with no regard to
overweight. Those endearing cars of the 50s where nothing to brag about -
all those chrome bombs, stars, spears, fake portholes, frenched headlights,=

tail fins, dual exhausts, added oddles of useless weight and wind drag. The=

reality of the previous CAFE standard ameliorated these excesses, but even
today's cars are 1000 to 2000 pounds heavier than they should be. I expect
a refreshing change in the years to come as mileage standards grow from 39
mpg to 49 mpg to perhaps 75 mpg or better. It is doable and without new
technology. It will be expensive technology, however. You may not get
returns on investment proportionate to the escalating prices, but you will
likely see substantial increases in used car values. As the new car prices
rise exponentially owners will maintain their owned vehicles better and new=

buyers will be priced out of the market, resulting in lower demand, fewer
used cars and higher used car prices according to the theory of
price-demand elasticity. The expected runaway inflation will further
exacerbate this dilema.

In conclusion, I applaud Obama's moxie for singlehandledly revolutionizing
the collectivized auto makers for the better. But, I damn the Public for
their foolishness in electing this American Idi Amin Dada in the first
place. The Founding Fathers had it right when voting rights belonged to the=

monied, property owing MALE white class, all of whom had to pay a poll tax
before casting their votes. If you don't agree with this elite, sexist,
racist viewpoint, FINE; salute your Black Hitler while you tool down the
highway in your Fiat 500, broke, your wallet and bank account cleaned out
of currency, soon to be more valuable as toliet paper than as a medium of
exchange.

Aww, Georgie managed to copy and paste a racist, sexist article.  Congrats
Georgie.  Now, take your pills, and go back to bed.  And, make sure to wear
your tin foil hat...

Might be the kiss of death to North American auto though.

No one is going to buy a Volt in big numbers, and that presumes GM is going
to last that long.

LOL.  Silly idiot thinks he can dictat what the consumer wants.  I smell one
term president coming.
