Taurus A/C Compressor Runs

Got a 2002 Taurus. Without turning the AC "on", it feels like the AC
compressor is running. What gives?

Set to defrost? Do you have the automatic climate control?

Like Bill 2 says... ford a/c also run in Def and Mix settings when above 35
or so degrees
