Hey All

Is anyone familiar with an issue that Ford Windstars motors have where
the intake has an air leak of some kind in it?  I had a local mechanic
tell me that there is some kind of an "Alert" from Ford our on it but
it isn't a big enough issue to do a recall.  I'm not sure I'm even
stating this the correct way but I'm looking for info on what exactly
the issue is and wondering how tough it is to just have a local
shade-tree mechanic friend of mine fix it himself.

It's a 1999 Windstart with a 3.8 motor with lots of miles.  But it
still runs great.  Any input or where to find input would be great.

Thanks in Advance

Hi I have a 96 Windstar thats news keep the results posted please. I found
on these vans u must keep cleaning the MAS air unit every six months or its
starts to ping. I had my engine rebuilt due to the head gasket issue. Now it
threw a rod through the oil pan. Glad its under warranty. Only 6,000 kilo's
on it .

Bought a new Winstar in 1995 and now it has almost 180,000 miles on it.
Had the head gaset thing done under warranty at 99,000 Didn't need it but
hey it was free.
I haven't had any trouble with it since new. I know, I'm just lucky I guess.
And I pulled a 25' travel trailer over 20,000 miles with it.
