95 ford taurus power steering pressure hose

Hello,

My gf has a 95 taurus and the pressure hose for the powersteering has
been rubbing against the aircodition compressor pulley. so there is a
whole in it (it seems) and the pressure line/hose needs to be replaced.

Is the pressure (feeding) line one piece that goes all the way from the
front/pump to the steering gearbox ?

I looked around in the engine compartment, but it seems like it is a
very long route for just one hose/tube.

In any cas... what is the easiest/best way to replace that line ?

It wraps around the engine. You need to buy the whole hose assembly.
There might be some aftermarket sources. If your going to keep the car,
you might think about changing both of them. YOur going to have to de
layer various items to work the hose free and snake it out. Both the
high pressure and the return hose should follow the same path to the
rack. You will probably need a stubby wrench to get the fittings loose
on the rack.

The steering gear where the pressure hose goes to is approx in the
middle of the engine bay, near the firewall ?

How can I reach the steering gear best to detach the hose ?

Plenty of patience, attention to detail and tubing wrenches that fit tightly.

However... , if there's room to do it you might try cutting out the worn
spot -CLEANLY, dont "saw" it- and insert a brass barb fitting that fits
tightly and small gear clamps, two per end... if it leaks there, you arent
out much

Only thing I can say against this as a fix is the rubber portion of the hose
is probably already hardened and will probably begin to leak at the crimps
soon enough so you may as well either replace the hose or take it to a
hydraulic place and have a new hose piece crimped in.
