Fords plan seems to be similiar to GM's.  Wait and see what cars that
other automakers have that are successful, then come out with your own
version of the same car, only 3 or more years after the other company
has already made huge profits on it.  Kind of like what the generic
drug makers do when a major drug company drug comes off patent, except
the automakers don't have to wait as long.  For example, GM is finally
coming out with a 2 seater that looks just like the Mazda Miatia, and
another car that looks like the PT Cruiser.  Not to mention the retro
Camaro that GM is going to make now that they see how successful the
new Mustang is.  At least Ford was a bit forward thinking on the new
Mustang and the Reflex Concept Car.
Supposedly the domestic automakers are just now looking into making
small cars again.  If they actually do that I might actually have a
reason to buy a new car.
