I have a '92 s10 (4.3l CPI) that sometimes will not start, acts like it's
out of gas, has fuel pressure and spark. Will then start normally and run
good after a few minutes. Sometimes on start, engine will race, and will not
stop raciing until turned off. Have replaced coil, rotor button, ig module,
cap, fuel filter, plug wires, map sensor, and fuel pump relay. Short of
pushing it off a cliff, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The racing could e your ignition switch sticking...You say it has fuel
pressure?
How much pressure does it have? Also does it hold pressure? Coud be your
pump bleeding down or you could have a bad fuel pressure
regulator.....Does it act up mainly when it sits for a long period of
time say overnight?

Defective or sticking Idle Air Controller is a likely cause.

Things which may help without buying more parts:

Disconnect and reconnect IAC connector to clean pin corrosion.
Remove IAC, clean pintle and seat then reinstall.
Push throttle pedal to floor multiple times to clean TPI resistor.
Disconnect and reconnect TPI connector to clean pin corrosion.
Confirm good vacuum (or electrical) connection to EGR valve.
Remove EGR valve, clean pintle and seat then reinstall.

Good luck.

Wendy & John.
