I've had this happen on different cars here and there.  It's generally a
pump thing.  The automatic shutoff for the pump is out of whack and the
little blowback from the fuel rushing into your filler neck is enough to
trigger the shutoff.  Use a different pump at that station next time and
I'll bet you don't have the same problem.

I had this issue once on a Diesel truck - actually it was a prototype,
but I digress - what the issue was there was some moisture had gotten
into the vent line and frozen.

The good news is that in that particular Diesel truck, you can drive
from Detroit to Sault Ste. Marie on one tankful...  (otherwise I would
have been one hurtin' unit, it's cold in Michigan in the winter, and
there's a lot of nowhere in between those two locations...)

I had this problem after i had a fuel pump installed on my 95 blazer.  I
didnt realize it soon enough to get it fixed since i was probably
driving a different car.  Lasted several years till i paid the dealer
last summer to fix it then the damn car dies over Christmas.

Anyway, I think its either the air vent from the tank to the fill hole
or the fill pipe itself is pinched.  Or perhaps ice in the vent or fill
pipe.
