I need to replace the relay that prevent high current from flowing through
the ignition switch. The relay was originally installed by the dealer during
a recall. The relay is marked Omron #12177235.

The auto part clerk told me it's no longer available and I should install
Omron #12177233 instead. I tried to find #12177235 elsewhere with no luck.
Nobody seems to have it.

Is GM now install #12177233? Can it be used to replace #12177235?

to manufacture. If the part system says it a direct replacement it more than
likely is...
