Actually, compared to last year 1Q and factoring in the "one-time
charges" that hit, this is definitely the right direction!

I agree jcr. I would like to believe that gordian was being serious
when he said "...way to go Rick!"  The $1 billion allotted to account
for payments to a fund created for future retiree health-care costs was
a wise discretionary move by GM. It's a realistic move, given the
employee packages being offered and it's good for employee pockets and
morale. I'll be watching for black ink going forward.

Okay...we'll watch with you.  Maybe when they run out of red ink, the
Japs will give them some black.

Some jackasses on MSNBC this morning was delving into the GM problem.
(One of the jackass crew was Lee Iacocca himself.)  They praised GM
management, pissed and moaned about the high cost of health care, and
countered that Jap companies are only paying a half percent interest on
their loans while GM was paying 12%...

Give me a freaking break...

Of course, the Japanese companies have ALWAYS been subsidized by
the banking system.  In EVERY industry.

They have a concerted effort to move into lucrative markets, hobble the
competition, and grasp market share.

And they have largely done it with well made products too.
Vis...electronics
of all types, motorcycles, cars, cameras, etc.

Now, this has been going on for years. It should come as no surprise to
any except those who have slept through the process....

If you see the train coming, the wise man either switches it to a siding,
or steps off the tracks.  We have done neither.

Just don't put your ear to the track to hear the train coming! *LOL*
