Hi! I have a ’95 Chevy Lumina with some weird issues. It’s got about
140,000 miles on it, but it’s been a pretty good car in the 3 1/2
years I’ve owned it. Last year at inspection time, it needed front
struts. Ever since, my anti-lock light stays on. Most recently, it has
started losing power and "chugging". I have no take off speed from a
complete stop. I looked at the muffler, and it is actually rocking a
bit as poofs of exhaust spit out. I’ve replaced spark plugs, oil and a
fuel filter. These fixes helped for about 2 days each, then back to
the "putt-putt-chug" that it does. When on the highway, if I’m
giving gas, the "chug" gets so bad I feel like the car is going to
stall out. As soon as I let off the gas, it’s fine. It takes me about
50 seconds to get from zero to 15 mph, with the gas petal on the
floor. I’ve tried fuel injector cleaner and the "complete system"
cleaner gas additives, which improve the problem for a day or 2, then
back to the frustrating chug. Any ideas what might be causing these
problems?

Any other lights on? If not, still good idea to have it scanned. And
have the cat convertor checked--sounds like it is stopped up. If so, it may
just be time to replace it,.or something else (as told by scan) could have
caused it to stop up. If so, correct that cause AND replace cat conv. s s
