where is the connector to place the truck in base timing mode? I have
checked the passenger side floor board and can't find it.

Look under the plastic cover on the passenger side of the
firewall in the engine compartment.

It's a tan wire w/black stripe, located under the glove box, near the
heater blower motor. "ONE" wire connector.
