On my Pontiac(04) Gran Prix. Rear Disc. Never did this before, but don't
want to pay what they charge to do it for you. Just wondering if Kragen or
Auto Zone has a decent reasonably priced manual for this car that has good
instructions to follow with good clear pics. Just need pads, don't believe
the rotors need turned as they are smooth and there are is no brake pedal
pulsations. Also want to install ceramic pads, but the front has OEM pads.
Is it ok to have one type pad on the front and another on the rear? Thanks
for your advice gang.

No problem putting ceramic on the rear. You should not be needing rear pads
though, if the fronts are still sound. The fronts wear out faster than the
rears unless you have a parking brake adjusted improperly or some other
problem. Just about any auto parts store will have a Haynes manual or
similar for your car - usually under $20 or so. They have good pictures and
good write-ups.

Try your local library. Mine has many auto repair manuals on the shelf and
if not there check their listing as most can draw books from many other
libraries.

You might have the screw in pistons on the rear, there is a special tool
to screw them in.

AutoZone web site has some repair manuals.
http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm
This may have some general information that may help, but I am sure its not
as good as a book you can buy.
