The French daily La Presse in Montréal, Québec, just published an
interesting article about what cars really cost: http://tinyurl.com/2b3a8d
Are fuel efficient cars really more economical? Not necessarily, says the
author.
I know it's in French but the article contains a link in the third
paragraph: Téléchargez toutes les données pour les 250 modèles. (format
excel), which means "download data on 250 models" (excel file)
On top of the column, prix = price; classe = category; conso V = city gas
mileage; conso A = highway gas mileage; kg CO2 par an = CO2 in a year; cote
$/km = average cost per kilometer in a year; cote $/100 km = average cost
per 100 kilometers in a year.
100 kms = 62.1371192237334 miles.
The Chev Malibu costs 37.26 / 100 kms (62 miles)
The Toyota Camry costs 40.82 /100 kms "
The Honda Accord costs 39.61 /100 kms "
Those good at math will want to calculate cost per mile. Have fun.
