My Honda Civic Hybrid manual recommends "always use Honda ATF-1" but also
mentioned Dexron III ATF but the latter "can affect shift quality". Any
opinion on this?? Thanks! -d

You can get an addititve that makes Dexron work fine in a Honda. ATP makes it,
probably other brands out there.

I believe the Honda manuals now state that Dexron can be used in an
pinch.  But then you have to flush everything out and refill with
Honda fluid.

always use honda atf. if you use dexron it will shift crappy, and if
the tranny fails it will be your problem, i can tell the difference in
smell and feel when i drain it.   those cvt's are especially
particular.
