I am in need of a pair of the Split-Boot CV boot kits for my '92
Civic. I replaced both boots about 2 years ago with a universal type,
which fit good and have held up until now.
Now, the local auto parts shops have something that is clearly too
small for the hub side of the joint, and just look dumb when I try to
press about a universal kit. One said, "Oh we get them, but we only
carry one at a time". Please.
Anyway, any help out there?
Also, this is for the outer CV joints. Mine are actually in pretty
good shape, no major wear, so I really would like to not have to spend
the $$ at this time on the labor involved to replace with a solid
boot.
Thanks,
Jim

You are satistied with a 2-year service life? I think I would be
realllly pissed if I only got 2 years service life from a CV boot. My
original CV boots are 8 years old and still look intact.
I don't know anything about split-type boot, but I think it is only a
temporary fix. You might be able to do the work yourself with this
type of boots though.
But if you were to keep the car for any length of time, I think it
would be better to spend the extra money for the factory boots and do
the job right once and for all.
p.s. there might be quality aftermarket boots out there, but I just
don't know any.
