I have been having trouble with the AC in my Civic. The tech replaced both
pressure switches then the Electric Load Detector because he got a code that
the ELD was not working right. The problem is the compressor doesn't engage
about 50% of the time. I get air blowing but not cold. Now he is telling me he
thinks I have low output on the alternator...
I get a terrible buzz on my am radio when the compressor does engage.
Any ideas?

Try a shop that knows more about AC. They've already been using you as a
guinea pig long enough. Hope you got your money back for the fir$t mi$take$.

Your mechanic does not seem to be up to speed. Did he check if there is
voltage going to the A/C clutch coil?
What does he mean when he says "thinks I have low output on the
alternator"? Did he measure it, or is he just guessing at problems?
Unless you are prepared to work on this yourself, I think you should
find yourself a better mechanic. If you post where you are located you
can probably get some good recommendations in this NG.
When did the warranty expire on the car?
