Hi,

What could be a "normal" fuel consumption of a 1996 Honda Accord (2.2L,
4 cylinders, automatic)...and what actions could be taken in order to
enhance its performance? is it possible that fuel consumption can be
related to some faulty part that needs to be changed?

Thank you

2.0 manual does about 13 km/litre on freeway

If the car isn't running poorly then the fuel consumption by the engine is
OK, as it's controlled by the ECU.  If the car is running poorly then a fuel
injector may be dumping too much fuel.  Otherwise you may want to check for
leaks in the fuel lines.

This is US gallons, of course.

If the car's running correctly, there's not much you can do other than
driving habits.

well guys,
someone suggested that I use a fuel injector cleaner as this might
help...but when I used it..I mean when the fuel tank had the mixture in
it...the gas consumption was even worse than before...it ran like
(normally it runs at 75km/10 Liters...and now it was 55km /
10Liters)....is this normal when you have that mixture in the
car...well I'm really wondering as the car drives really smoothly and I
know that the fuel consumption shouldn't be that bad...it's like almost
half what it should be...
as for fuel lines leaks...there is no smell of fuel..so how can I make
sure they are leaking...
Thanks again

Wow, that's about 13 mpg.  You don't say what kind of Honda or under
what conditions it is driven, but that is low for all but the most
extreme circumstances.  Make sure none of the wheels is dragging -
should be easy to push it on level ground.  If it doesn't get better
with one or two tanks of the cleaner then you may need professional
diagnosis.  I assume that the "check engine" light isn't on.

13mpg! that's worse then my 17.4mpg. but i've got siedraft Weber carbs
:) has it improved since the cleaner has run out of the system? if not
see of your ECU is throwing a code, could be a bad O2 sensor or
something like that.
