hr-v s&d buttons

I've just test-driven a 2001 (XREG) 5dr HR-V CVT which had 2 buttons on the
right-hand side of the steering wheel "S" & "D". The salesman didn't seem
too sure what these were for, can anyone tell me?

Is the HR-V new or non U.S. er should that read CR-V ? S & D buttons
for satellite radio (did the manual say what the buttons were 4) ?

HR-V is available in Europe
