After I neutral-stalled my car (accidentally) my D4 light came on and stays
on and there is no 1st or 4th gear.  Changed trans fluid - no change.
Replaced whole transmission, D4 still on & still no 1st or 4th.  Honda
reprogrammed computer (for free), D4 went off for less than an hour.  Now
D4 back on and car isn't shifting right again.  Any ideas?

If you've replaced the whole tran$mi$$ion, and still have the exact same
symptom, It would seem logical that you shouldn't pay for the tranny.

You need to publish the CODES that they retreived from the computer, and
it sounds more like your computer is just really getting tired (bad
capacitors) / has suffered water damage / has a bad ground / bad sensor
signal.

Who diagnosed this thing for you in the first place, Honda?

Let's be clear here: HONDA diagnosed nothing. The DEALER (the holder of a
Honda franchise) DID.

A small point but an important one. The dealer has to fight with Honda to
get such things as reimbursement for warrany claims and the like. They are
a totally separate company, but one that has paid the fees to obtain a
Honda franchise and the rights that go with it.

Remember: The dealer is NOT Honda.

Surprise, Surprise!  It mysteriously started working correctly!  Hopefully,
I won't have any more problems.

Just curious 'cause I have never heard of it before.
