Hi, I just bought a 99 Accord w/100000 kms on the clock. She has used Honda
bulk oil for her whole life, just wondering if it's safe to make a switch to
Synthetic or do I need to worry about leaks? Also if it is okay which brand
is the best bet, has to be readily available as here in Newfoundland Amisoil
and the others are not available. Thx for any input.
I would not worry about changing at that mileage. I have changed cars over
with more miles than that. I only use Mobil 1 , should be able to get it
anywhere. Scott
Changing is fine. It was 15+ years ago when early PAO formulations
causes problems (leaks in some engines).
Amsoil and Mobil 1 are fine synthetic oils.

I changed at 30k miles on a Prelude and was told that was about right to
ensure the engine was broken in completely. The catch ( I understand) is
that you can never go back to non-synthetic oil. I don't know why... but
that's what my Honda dealer says.
