Apparently one kind of caliper (and therefore pad) was made for models
in the USA, and another for cars built in Japan.

Anyone know if it was the Akebono or Nissan calipers that went on the
US models?  And:  Any way of identifying the two calipers visually?

TIA!

It's Nissin, not Nissan.

The name should be cast into the caliper body.

Thanks, I did eventually figure that out.

It's not.  Just various casting markings.

But the research I did yesterday may have provided an answer.

Turns out that Akebono operates in the US under the name Ambrake
Manufacturing in Elizabethtown, KY.  They make and ship calipers to
the Marysville, OH, plant where the final assembly was performed on
my Accord.

Honda supplies the pads to them for mounting in the caliper.

So I think all US Honda Accord LX 4-cylinders have Akebono/Ambrake
calipers.  Maybe all US Honda Accords ...

The dealer lists only one pad for a US vehicle, anyways.
