Thanks for the reply. When I went outside to check I noticed a few more
things. Now the Left brake light does not turn on or off while the
right remains "stuck". In addition, none of the rear driving lights
that come on with the headlights, are getting power

Oh boy. You have other problems then, not just the switch.
Check all bulbs for corrosion in all the sockets. Check all grounds. Check
bulbs for burned-out filaments.
Check the backup light swtich at the parking brake lever.
Any rust where you live (or where the car lived before you had it)?

Had you changed the rear light bulbs recently. Check that they are the
correct ones? One kind of light bulbs got one one contact point at the base
and a pair of parallel locking pins at the sides. The other kind of light
bulbs got two contact points at the base and the locking pins are not
parallel at the sides. Strange enough sometimes one can still screw them
into the wrong sockets by accident.

Check the grey connectors by the tail lights. They get corroded by the
leaking tail light gaskets and housings.
BTDT.

Does anybody happen to know that actual names of the Brake light switch
under the dash and the grey connectors by the tail lights?
Jason - 01 Jun 2005 21:37 GMT

Why? Can't you see the one on your car? It's a simple plunger switch,
grounded when pressure is removed.

The one under the dash is called a "brake light switch".
