getting brave enough to change my timing belt on 1999 honda accord 4
cylinder

so far i have looked at step by step instructions for timing belt
instalation off of the internet however this information was for early
90's honda.

everything i have seen looks fairly easy so far

the tricky part is balance shafts

I can not tell if a 1999 honda has balance shafts and the procedure to
time them

google.com is your friend.

Why not go to google and get the instructions for __changing__ Accord__
timing__ belt__ 1999__ and print them out? If the engine is the same as
the '95, 96, 97 Odyssey, yes, there is a balancer belt. The instructions
will tell you how to get it in 'time'. Have you got the special 50mm
wrench for holding the crankshaft pulley while you apply 120 +++ ft/lb
(more like 400 if some goof put LockTite on it) to crack it loose?

Hello,
I have a 99 Accord and I also have a service manual. The pictures in the
service manual clearly show that the 99 Accord does have balance shafts. I
advise you to buy a service manual for it. Another option is to take
several pictures of the timing belt before you remove it from different
angles. Make sure the camera has a flash attachment. Don't change the
timing belt until you have the pictures in your hand. If you buy a service
manual, make sure it has a picture or excellent diagram of the belt before
you pay for the manual.

There are two belts -- one timing and the the balance shaft.  Frankly, the
cost to replace the timing and balance belt, the drive belts and the water
pump, adjust valves, change coolant at my local Honda dealer only cost
$525.00.  They know what they are doing and warranty the work.  I would
recommend it.
