I saw this on my Civic invoice. Anyone know what, exactly, this is? It
cost $289 whatever it is. I'm going to ask the dealer about it but
thought it a good idea to get a second opinion here.

TIA,

Drew

In Canada, we have a national tax called the GST (gouge and screw tax).
In Britain it's called the VAT. At your dealer, they stuck some plastic
protector over the leading edges of your paint / headlights and didn't
mention that they were sneaking it on to your bill.

It's a moneymaker for the dealer, but may be a good thing for your car
(depending on what it turns out to be). I might just be some Scotchguard
on the fabric and some Armor All on the dash :-(

You should try to get your money back, since they 'slipped it to you',
which is against consumer law (in Canada).

Yeah my dealer tried the old tack extras when I bought my 2003 Accord.  $80
for rear mud guard which do nothing.  I told them to remove them.  They
tried to say it would leave the tail of my car unprotected from mud and rock
chips.  Bull!  After 70,000 KM there isn't a single rock chip on the side
fenders behind the rear tires and there's $80 more in my pocket.
