Hello Everyone,
I have a question about the molykote packets that come with the Honda OEM brakes. On my 99 Accord, there are now 3 shims (1 metal 2 plastic)
for each side. In the past, I had to put a very very thin application of the grease on each of the shims, just to have enough for all 6 in total. Just
recently while the brakes were getting low, they started queaking. So this time, I wanted to place a little more to prevent this from happening but,
as exected I ran out on the last 2 shims. On my 95 Integra and 95 Accord without the metal shim, there is usually enough in the packets to get all of
the shims; am I not supposed to put molykote on the metal shim? I'm assuming that the Permatex anti-seize which has the required copper based
lubribcant can work for my last set of shims?
Thanks,
Nick

The small packet of lube is also included with integrated shims or
stick-on shims. So there isn't enough to cover all inner shims for the
axle. I'd use brake system specific lube only such as Permatex's disc
quiet products. I wouldn't use their antiseize for this purpose.

Better yet, buy Akebono ProAct ceramic pads with integrated shims.
These are better pads than the NBK (Nishimbo) lowest-bidder-pads you're
most likely to get over the counter.

Thanks for the information. I'll buy the disc quiet for now and on the next change, only do the shims that are directly touching the pads. The amount
in that packet should be enough for all 4 of them.
