I swapped the engine in my 84 CRX with a 87 CRX engine. The engine ran in
the other car. Now I get the car to start but the minute you touch the gas
the engine dies. What could the problem be?

A lot of things.
What changed between 84 and 87 on the engines?
Did you also swap the engine computers?
What errors does the computer report?
Voltage on the electrical system @ 14.4V?
How's the fuel pressure? (check for a clean filter too)
