96 Accord EX 4 cyl 5 spd.  The exhaust pipe has rusted through in two spots,
once at the first major bend leaving the engine compartment and the second
at the bend right before the muffler.  I would like to fix the root of the
problem rather than just replace the exhaust pipe only to have it rust
through again.
Any thoughts?

Quit driving short distances. My wife's 4-runner does this. She drives
10 blocks to work every day.

Patching the holes really doesn't work. The only thing you can do is replace the
pipes. There isn't anything you can do to fix the root of the problem. All pipes
will inevitably rust. The only thing you can do to prolong the pipes from
rusting through is avoiding short trips.

It's more expensive but replace it with a stainless steel after-market
pipe.
