What sorts of damages can be caused by scratching bottom ? like when
you come down a hill/dip.
Can it fxck up the exhaust connections, catalyst converter ?

All kinds of things.

The splash guard, engine cradle, gas tank, exhaust (all parts, cat, mid
pipe, muffler etc), a lot of things you don't want to have damaged.
