I have a dumb, but urgent, message about the Honda CR-V; hope someone
can help soon!

My girlfriend loaned me her CR-V (about a 2002-3 model) over the
Christmas holiday while she visited her relatives. Great car! Except
that a stupid little reminder light about the tailgate is staying on on
the dashboard and I don't know how get the damn thing to turn off ---
and she's coming back today. I'd hate to disappoint her after she
loaned me her precious car by returning it with this damned little
reminder light on!

It came on when I punched the button that is on the driver's side door
armrest that an icon on it that depicts a rear hatch opening up --
which I thought would open the rear door without using the key. But it
did not open the rear door at all; I can hear some noise in the
tailgate area when I push it that sounds like a latch being released,
and then the reminder light came on. (The reminder light is a red icon
on the dashboard panel, inset within the speedometer area, to remind
you of things you forget -- this one looks like a little car with a
rear hatch open, and appears right beside the seat belt reminder.)

No matter what I do with the rear door -- open and close it -- the
little light stays on. I've looked all over the rear door area for
anything to push or pull or reset, that might be related, but haven't
found anything.

Does *anybody* know what will turn this silly light reminder light off?

Would be much obliged!!!

Thanks,
Rick in Boulder

Does the rear glass in that vehicle open independent of the door itself?

It's the rear glass hatch that's open.. simple.

That was it! Just had to push the rear glass hatch back.

Anything is easy...when you know how! Thanks for the answers.

No problem.  Not having a CR-V, I was just guessing myself.

You have opened the glass on the back window.  Lift it, and let it
drop and the light will go out.
